Vaibhav Lakshmi is one of the manifestations of Goddess Lakshmi (Goddess of Wealth) in Hindu. Vaibhav Lakshmi Vratam is a popular fast among Indian women, observed for 11 or 21 Fridays, in which they consume food or water only at their home and take meals once a day preferably. There are many stories of miracles or benefits which people observed when they did the Vaibhav Lakshmi Pooja. Most of the women observe this pious Pooja as there are small-big problems in every family like; examinations, marriage, Illness, business etc. Ma Vaibhav Laxmi has mercy on those families observing this Vaibhav Laxmi Pooja. It is believed that those persons observing the Pooja of Vaibhava Laxmi certainly get their desires fulfilled.
Friday represents Venus (Shukra) as per Vedic Astrology. Venus is a planet that bestows one with all the physical comforts, luxury and glamour. In Hinduism Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped on Fridays for the same significance.Procedures for performing Vaibhav Lakshmi Vratam
 Married women normally observe this Vratam and gain the rewards of Vaibhav Lakshmi. Even unmarried woman can observe if there is no married woman in the house.
 A man can also observe this Vratam in place of a women and he too gains the reward in the same way as women.
 This Vratam should be performed with complete or full faith with a pious notion and just not with an indifferent attitude or without proper desire.
 This Vratam should be performed as per the rites described in the Shastras for 11 Fridays or 21 Fridays as desired on oath. The Vratam is very simple and can be performed by anyone. If the Vratam is not observed properly according to the Shastras, one will not get the fruits of the Vratam.
 Once the Vratam is observed, then it can be continued again taking the oath even for 121 Fridays.
 The pooja should be performed mainly to the “Shri Yantra” (“Shree Yantra” - Shree meaning wealth and Yantra - Meaning “Instrument”. This Instrument for Wealth, the “Shree Yantra” brings both material and spiritual wealth) of Goddess Lakshmi Devi.
 On the Vratam day, throughout the day one should utter the mantram of “Jai Goddess Lakshmi” “Jai Ma Lakshmi” from the heart as many times as possible. This will give strength to the person who chants for the whole day.
 If a person cannot perform the Vratam on one Friday, it can be done on the next Friday at their residence. But the number of Fridays should be observed strictly.
 If one cannot afford golden ornaments, silver ornaments can be utilized for observing the pooja. Or a one rupee coin can also be used if one cannot afford silver ornaments.
 On the last Friday of the celebration of this Vratam one should give the book “Vaibhava Lakshmi Vratam” to seven, eleven, twenty-one, fifty one or hundred and one women according to one’s own desire. (Goddess Lakshmi would bless you more if you give more books as gifts to more women, and the Vratam of Goddess Lakashmi would spread more and more.
 Sometimes women may not be in a position to perform the puja on a given Friday then, one can perform the Vratam the following Friday. One should observe the Vratam for as many Fridays as decided at the time of oath.
 Before and after observing the Vratam, one should recite once the hymn or praise Goddess Lakshmi.
 One should observe fasting on the day of performing the Vratam on Friday, and should eat the sweet dish offered to Goddess Lakshmi. One may eat fruits or take meals once a day. People who have health issues may observe the Vratam having food twice a day. The important thing is that one should have full faith and devotion and Goddess Lakshmi would certainly fulfill their desire. Most important point to note are those doing the Vaibhav Lakshmi Vratam should do it with full faith, and emotion. Confidently pray to Goddess Lakshmi while taking sankalpam or oath and Mother Lakshmi will fulfill your desire.
